The official 2026 regional Kurabgabe applies year-round to overnight and day visitors. The standard adult rate is €3.37 per person per day in the high season (1 May–31 October and 20 December–6 January), and €2.54 in the low season (7 January–30 April and 1 November–19 December). The arrival and departure days each count as one day. Children aged 7–13, persons with a severe disability of at least 80%, and eligible accompanying persons pay 50% of the regular rate; severely disabled children aged 7–13 pay 25%. A dog charge of €1.00 per dog per day applies year-round. The rate includes VAT. A day visitor also needs a day Kurkarte.
Children under 7 are exempt. Children aged 7–13, people with a severe disability of at least 80%, and the necessary accompanying person (proof of marker B) receive a 50% reduction; severely disabled children aged 7–13 receive a 75% reduction (pay 25%). Holders of qualifying assistance dogs are exempt from the dog charge. People who work or are in vocational training in the area are not treated as out-of-town visitors under the regional bylaw. For a business trip in Baabe, the official form requires a prior application and employer/event-provider confirmation; applications after arrival or after the Kurkarte/DigiCard has been issued are not approved.
The Kurabgabe rules cover hotels, holiday apartments, holiday homes, private accommodation, campsites, boats and comparable lodging. A host (including an owner who lets their unit to others) must register guests electronically with the municipal Kurverwaltung immediately and no later than the day after arrival; the registration can be combined with the statutory registration where applicable. The host must collect the full intended-stay charge on arrival, issue the Kurkarte without delay, remit the charge after invoicing, provide truthful information, display the current bylaw for guests, and answer questions. Hosts may not grant exemptions or reductions themselves. The reviewed official sources do not state a short-term-rental registration-number, Wohnraumschutz, or Zweckentfremdungsverbot requirement.
