The official Kurabgabe is charged per person per day. Adult rate: €3.37 in the high season (1 May–31 October and 20 December–6 January) and €2.54 in the low season (7 January–30 April and 1 November–19 December). Children aged 7 to under 14 pay €1.69/€1.27; severely disabled persons with a degree of disability of at least 80 and qualifying accompanying persons pay €1.69/€1.27; severely disabled children aged 7 to under 14 pay €0.84/€0.63. Arrival and departure days each count as a day. The tax includes VAT. Dogs are charged €1.00 per day, year-round.
Children under 7 are exempt. Children aged 7 to under 14 pay 50% of the regular rate. Severely disabled children aged 7 to under 14 with a disability degree of at least 80 pay 25%. Persons with a disability degree of at least 80 and the necessary accompanying person (with the “B” mobility entitlement shown on the disability ID) pay 50%. Owners of assistance dogs are exempt from the dog charge when the entitlement is documented. Persons who work in Sellin, are in vocational training there, or cultivate a non-residential allotment garden are not treated as non-residents for this charge.
Short-term accommodation providers—including hotels, guesthouses, holiday apartments/houses, private accommodation, campsites, boats and comparable accommodation—are treated as “Beherberger.” They must register guests electronically with the Sellin municipal tourism operation immediately and no later than the day after arrival; collect the full intended-stay tax on arrival; issue the guest card immediately; transmit the required data through the electronic reporting system; remit the tax after invoicing; provide truthful information; display the current bylaw and answer guest questions. They are jointly liable for the tax and for timely, complete collection and remittance. The bylaw does not state a short-term-rental registration number, Wohnraumschutz requirement or Zweckentfremdungsverbot.
