From 1 January 2026, Zingst charges an all-year visitor tax (Kurabgabe) of EUR 3.00 per person per night for full-paying guests aged 15 and over. The reduced rate is EUR 1.50 per person per night. Children aged 0–5 are exempt; children aged 6–14 pay the reduced rate. The charge applies from arrival through departure; the guest pays the host (Quartiergeber) when receiving the guest card. Day visitors may also be liable when using local recreational facilities, with a separate day-visitor rate stated on the official page.
Exemptions include children aged 0–5, persons with a degree of severe disability (GdB) 100, registered accompanying persons of severely disabled persons, people working in the assessment area, holders of honorary guest cards, Zingst residents, and qualifying family members of Zingst residents staying free of charge and not visiting for recreational purposes. Persons with GdB 50 or more receive the reduced rate. The older official bylaw also lists qualifying employment/business stays and certain social-welfare reductions; supporting documents may be required.
Hotels, pensions, campsites, room agencies and private landlords who accommodate guests are treated as hosts (Quartiergeber). The official bylaw requires hosts to comply with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania registration-law duties, report accommodated persons to the Zingst tourism operator using the electronic j-Meldeschein (or, where approved, statutory paper registration forms), collect the visitor tax on arrival, issue guest cards, remit the collected tax by the third working day of the following month, keep the required records, display the bylaw, and provide relevant information. The official Zingst materials reviewed do not state a local registration-number, Wohnraumschutz or Zweckentfremdungsverbot requirement for short-term rentals.
