Rate structure & calculation

For 2026, the official tourism service lists the visitor tax (Kurabgabe) per adult person per day: €3.00 in the high-season periods 1 January–8 January, 1 April–31 October, and 22 December–31 December; €1.80 in the low-season periods 9 January–31 March and 1 November–21 December. The 2026 annual maximum is €84.00. Payment automatically provides the Ostseecard. The official municipal amendment effective 4 January 2027 changes the rates to €3.50 high season and €2.00 low season; those are future rates relative to 29 October 2026.

Exemptions & reductions

The municipal rules exclude people temporarily present for work, business, service or training when they do not use the spa facilities; registered conference/congress/event participants who do not use the facilities; bedridden or injured persons unable to use the facilities (medical certificate required); and residents of the LTO OstseeSpitze member municipalities on presentation of ID. Children and young people under 18 are exempt. On application, certain unpaid visiting relatives of residents are exempt if they do not use the facilities. Persons with a severe disability of at least 80% receive a 50% reduction; a demonstrably required accompanying person marked “B” on the disability ID is exempt. A valid guest card from another Schleswig-Holstein municipality can provide one day’s reciprocal exemption. Exemptions/reductions must be evidenced; the accommodation provider may not grant reductions independently.

Short-term rental & host rules

The municipal Kurabgabe rules cover short-term accommodation providers, including landlords of guest rooms and owners or permanent users of residential units who let them to third parties. Hosts must provide an Ostseecard to each accommodated person aged 18 or over; have the guest enter arrival/departure dates and home address on the municipal registration form; submit the tourism-service copy within three working days; calculate and collect the Kurabgabe and remit it (every two weeks in high season and every four weeks in the shoulder/low season); display the rules; and keep a guest register, including own use, recording names, home addresses, ages where under 18, arrival/departure dates, host name/address/business number, and the exact accommodation address. The register or rental-contract records must be available for inspections and retained under the applicable tax-record rules. The official Kurabgabe sources specify these guest-tax duties; they do not state a separate Wohnraumschutz or Zweckentfremdungsverbot registration requirement.
