€ 3.50
per person / night

Rate structure & calculation

Travemünde charges a visitor tax (Kurabgabe) of €3.50 per person per night during the summer season (15 May–14 September). The rate is €2.00 per person per night during the spring, autumn and winter seasons (1 January–14 May and 15 September–31 December). The arrival and departure days count as one day, but the arrival day is not charged. The beach-use fee is included in the Kurabgabe. The €3.50 figure is the standard adult high-season rate.

Exemptions & reductions

Exemptions include children and young people under 18 (proof of age required); certain relatives staying free with a Lübeck resident when they do not use the spa facilities; students at Lübeck universities with a valid student ID; participants in sporting events recognized by the Travemünde spa operation during active participation; people with a degree of disability of 100 and a necessary accompanying person; people whose usual residence is in Lübeck; holders of an ostseecard from another place during its validity; occupational or vocational-training guests who do not use the spa facilities except where facility use is part of their duties; and bedridden sick or injured people unable to use the facilities with a medical certificate. A guest card from another Schleswig-Holstein resort outside the ostseecard network gives a one-day exemption. People with a degree of disability of at least 50 receive a 50% reduction unless fully exempt.

Short-term rental & host rules

A short-term accommodation provider (Wohnungsgeber), including an owner of a holiday house, apartment or summer house, must register every accommodated person with the Travemünde spa operation within three days using the digital onlinemeldeschein ostseecard. The registration records names, nationality, home address, date of birth, accompanying children under 18, arrival and departure dates, the host's name and address, the landlord/accommodation-provider number (Vermieternummer), and the issued registration-form number. Hosts must keep a guest register with entries made on the day of arrival, collect the Kurabgabe, issue the ostseecard, and remit the money within 14 days after invoicing; they are liable for timely and complete collection and remittance. The reviewed Kurabgabe statute does not specify a separate Wohnraumschutz or Zweckentfremdungsverbot registration/permit.
