€ 3.00
per person / night

Rate structure & calculation

The standard Kurtaxe is EUR 3.00 per person per day/night, including statutory VAT, assessed for the duration of the stay; arrival and departure together count as one day. Children aged 6 to under 18 pay EUR 1.00. Eligible severely disabled persons and qualifying companions pay 50% of the applicable rate. Publicly accessible motorhome pitches are charged a flat amount per motorhome equal to twice the applicable Kurtaxe. An annual pass is available for at least 30 days of stay and costs EUR 60.00. The tax is levied year-round, 1 January through 31 December.

Exemptions & reductions

Exemptions include children under 6; visitors staying with a principal resident in the resident's household for family or comparable reasons; people staying solely for work or vocational training (ordinary club, student/semester events do not qualify, and business-related conferences must be substantiated); persons with a degree of disability of 100 and a permanently required companion; bedridden patients who cannot leave their accommodation and prove this with a medical certificate; participants in voluntary services; and young people and supervising adults on organized school trips staying in youth hostels, youth or school camps, youth tent camps or forest huts. Reduced rates: ages 6 to under 18 pay EUR 1.00; eligible severely disabled persons with a non-temporary reduction in earning capacity of at least 50% and qualifying companions, plus companions of severely disabled children under 6, receive a 50% reduction. The claimant must provide evidence of the exemption or reduction.

Short-term rental & host rules

The official Kurtaxe statute does not state a Quedlinburg registration-number, Wohnraumschutz or Zweckentfremdungsverbot requirement. It does impose visitor-tax duties on every paid accommodation provider or person granting housing for temporary use, including private and commercial hosts, camping and weekend-site operators, and hosts of 10 or more beds: report liable guests to the city on the first working day after arrival, collect the Kurtaxe, and remit it to Quedlinburg-Tourismus-Marketing GmbH. Hotels, pensions, clinics, campsites and commercial hosts with at least 10 beds must remit by the 15th of the following month; non-commercial hosts by the 15th calendar day after the quarter ends. New businesses must report digitally; existing businesses may use the designated digital system during the transition. Hosts must provide information on request, permit inspection of accommodation records, display or make the statute accessible to guests, and are liable for proper collection and remittance.
