Official rates valid from 20 December 2025: adults aged 17+ pay €4.70 per stay day in Kurbezirk I and €4.15 in Kurbezirk II. Ages 10–16 pay €3.90 and €3.55 respectively. Kurbezirk I covers Oberstdorf-Markt, camping sites, Kühberg, Jauchen and Reute; Kurbezirk II covers the side valleys and other districts. A day begun counts as a full day; arrival and departure together count as one day. Guests subject to the contribution who do not stay overnight in the spa area pay the Kurbezirk-I rate. The accommodation collects the contribution. The numeric field uses the standard adult Kurbezirk-I rate.
Children under 10 are exempt. The official information also lists exemptions or remission procedures for persons with a disability card marked aG, Bl, Gl, TBl or H, and a documented accompanying person; business travellers may apply for remission (informally for stays up to three days, written application from three stay days), school residential-home stays subject to the requirements, and certain cadre/high-performance athletes competing in Oberstdorf. Exempt guests do not receive a guest pass.
For every accommodation business—including holiday rooms, holiday apartments and hotels, regardless of size—the host must issue a special accommodation registration form for each guest under §§29–30 BMG. Forms must be available; handwritten forms require the relevant notice and electronic forms must be signed by the guest. The host records discrepancies from identity documents, keeps forms available for police inspection for one year, protects them from unauthorized access and destroys them within a reasonable period. The forms are the basis for the monthly visitor-tax accounting, and hosts who have undertaken self-archiving must retain them for six years. The official sources found do not specify a local short-term-rental registration-number system. Oberstdorf's official tourism-function zoning statute additionally places certain ownership divisions and leaving homes vacant for more than half the year under municipal approval; it is intended to keep housing available either for continuously changing tourist occupancy or long-term local rental.
