The official visitor tax (Kurabgabe) is charged per person per stay day. Adults pay EUR 2.00 in the high season (15 May–15 September) and EUR 0.75 in the low season (16 September–14 May). The arrival and departure days count as one stay day, using the arrival-day rate. A EUR 56.00 annual Kurabgabe is available instead of daily charges; the official rate is therefore EUR 2.00 per person per night/day as the standard high-season adult rate.
Exempt: children under 18; participants in Kurverwaltung-approved conferences, congresses or courses who do not use the facilities; persons with 100% disability-related loss of earning capacity and their designated companions; certain unpaid visiting relatives hosted by Rerik residents if they do not use the facilities; bedridden persons and others unable to use the tourism facilities. Day-visitor cards from places belonging to the regional tourism association are recognized. Reduced rates: persons with a disability certificate, and school/vocational trainees, conscripts, civilian-service volunteers and students under 27: EUR 1.30 in high season and EUR 0.50 in low season.
The official Kurabgabesatzung treats anyone who hosts people or provides accommodation for recreational purposes—including hotels, holiday apartments, campsites and comparable accommodation—as a housing provider. The host must issue the guest card within one day of arrival, collect the Kurabgabe for the intended stay, remit it to the City by the 10th of the following month, and keep a guest register recording each guest’s name, year of birth, address, arrival/departure dates and issued card number. The rules also apply to operators providing pitches for tents, caravans or motorhomes. The cited official rules do not specify a short-term-rental registration number, Wohnraumschutz permit or Zweckentfremdungsverbot for Rerik.
