Füssen levies a Kurbeitrag per person per stay day, not a percentage-based accommodation tax. The standard adult rate is EUR 3.00 for persons aged 16 and over; ages 6–15 pay EUR 1.50; children up to age 5 are free. Partial days count as full days, and arrival and departure days together count as one stay day. The current schedule took effect on 1 January 2025 and includes statutory VAT.
Children up to 5 are fully exempt. Persons with at least 50% disability receive a 50% reduction, and persons with 100% disability are exempt; an accompanying person receives the same reduction or exemption where the disability ID states that accompaniment is required. Business travelers/persons staying for professional reasons are exempt. Certain in-city training-course participants (DEB, DCV, DEU; the amended statute also names BEV) and qualifying parents accompanying participants under 16 are exempt. School classes traveling for educational rather than leisure purposes may be exempt on application. Pre-December-2019 regular guests with a qualifying pass may retain an exemption from the 25th qualifying stay; newer guests receive a gift pass instead. Exempt business travelers and exempt training-course participants must not be issued guest cards.
For short-term accommodation, the official Füssen Kurbeitrag rules treat anyone who accommodates guests or provides them with living space—including holiday-rental hosts, hotels and camping/RV sites—as responsible for guest reporting and collection of the Kurbeitrag. Hosts must electronically report accommodated persons to Füssen Tourismus und Marketing no later than the next working day after arrival; on application, paper reporting may be permitted to avoid undue hardship. If the departure date was not supplied at registration, the host must submit the departure report by the next working day after departure. Hosts must collect the Kurbeitrag and are liable for remitting it. The official materials also describe the general German special guest-registration duty: commercial/business hosts must have the guest sign the special registration form at check-in and retain it for one year from arrival, then destroy it within three months. No Füssen-specific registration-number, Wohnraumschutz or Zweckentfremdungsverbot requirement is stated in the official Kurbeitrag materials reviewed.
