The official Kurbeitrag is charged per person and stay day (a partial day counts as a full day; arrival and departure days together count as one stay day). The standard adult rate is €3.50 in Kurbezirk 1. In Kurbezirk 2 it is €2.40 per adult per night; Kurbezirk 3 is contribution-free. Adults are guests who are 16 or older on the departure day. Youth aged 6–15 pay €1.75 in Kurbezirk 1 or €1.20 in Kurbezirk 2. The statutory VAT is included.
Children under 6 are exempt. Business travellers may be exempt for a strictly professional stay where they cannot use spa facilities or attend spa events; an application and supporting proof are required. Guests with a certified disability level (GdB) of 70 receive a 25% reduction; GdB 80 or higher is free. A companion of a disabled person whose disability pass bears the code “B” is free. The contribution-free Kurbezirk 3 is also exempt by area.
The reviewed official Kurbeitrag rules do not specify a separate short-term-rental registration number, housing-protection permit, or Zweckentfremdungsverbot. However, anyone who accommodates guests or provides them with living space—including operators of campsites and designated motorhome pitches—must report guests to Markt Oberstaufen through the municipality’s electronic reporting system no later than the day after arrival, using the integrated official registration form. Hosts must collect the Kurbeitrag, remit it, correct changes promptly, provide information and reporting records on request, and retain the records. The guest’s required data include name, home address, date of birth, arrival date and planned departure date.
